CeramiCafe Plans November Opening in Bend’s Old Mill District |
Pottery painting, mosaics and classes planned for a new upstairs studio |

Bend’s next creative outing could end with a piece of pottery you painted yourself. CeramiCafe is coming to the Old Mill District this November, bringing shelves of ready-to-paint pieces and a mix of art projects for kids and adults.
The studio will open upstairs at 450 SW Powerhouse Drive, Suite 429, above Lush, Budd + Finn and Tumalo Art Co. It will join an already arts-filled corner of the district near the Lubbesmeyer Art Studio & Gallery and The Stacks Art Studios & Gallery.
Pottery painting starts with a choice: more than 500 bisque pieces will be available to turn into something of your own. Visitors paint their selections, then leave them for firing. Finished pieces are ready in about five days, or a $5 rush option brings pickup down to 48 hours.
The studio’s plans extend beyond pottery, with mosaics, canvas painting, classes, camps and private events also on the list. Birthday parties, a family afternoon or a creative get-together with friends will all have a place in the new space.
For owner Krista Courtney, Bend becomes the latest chapter in a business with 25 years behind it. CeramiCafe also has studios in Clackamas, Corvallis, Lake Oswego and Beaverton. Courtney said Bend’s community, creativity and sense of adventure helped make the city an appealing next stop.
Old Mill District marketing director Beau Eastes welcomed the studio as a good neighbor for the upstairs galleries. The addition will give visitors another way to spend time with art in the district: picking up a brush themselves.
