Redmond Municipal Airport Secures American Airlines Direct Service to Dallas/Fort Worth, Expanding Regional Connectivity

After more than two years of dedicated marketing efforts, Redmond Municipal Airport revealed a triumphant outcome: American Airlines is set to introduce seasonal direct service between Redmond and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport starting from May 6 through October 6.

These nonstop flights are scheduled to depart daily from RDM at 1:16 P.M., reaching DFW at 6:57 P.M. Conversely, flights from DFW to RDM will take off at 10:15 A.M. and land in RDM at 12:31 P.M.

Zachary Bass, the Airport Director, expressed enthusiasm about this development. He highlighted how this upcoming flight to Dallas/Fort Worth marks the furthest eastbound direct flight available at RDM, providing passengers access to various exceptional destinations.

The daily nonstop flights will be operated by American Airlines, utilizing the Airbus A320 series aircraft, designed to accommodate up to 150 passengers, offering 12 recliner seats in first class and 138 seats in economy class.

This new service to DFW complements the existing nonstop service to Phoenix (PHX), enabling local residents access to American Airlines' extensive global network with just one stop.

With this addition, RDM now facilitates direct flights to 13 locations including Burbank, Denver, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Rosa, and Seattle. Securing the Dallas flights was a priority for Central Oregon air travelers, and two years ago, Redmond secured an $800,000 federal grant to assist in this endeavor.

According to Bass, the total investment to attract airlines for the Dallas flight amounted to $1.2 million, drawing from funds contributed by the Central Oregon Visitors Association, airport marketing allocations, and community-backed "revenue guarantee money."

Redmond Airport's terminal operates round the clock, offering various amenities in the boarding lounge such as a children’s play area, Nursing Room, a free book exchange, a coffee/gift shop, a family-friendly restaurant, and a full-service bar (situated post-security) opening daily at 10:00 A.M.

Crook County School Board Held Special Meeting Amidst Allegations Against Chair

The Crook County School District in Prineville, Oregon, is facing a tumultuous period as it held a special meeting Friday night to address a confidential complaint against Board Chair, Jessica Brumble. The allegations, shrouded in secrecy, implicate Brumble's minor child and various district employees, surfacing initially at Monday's board meeting. Brumble has called for an executive session to protect her child's privacy and shield them from the public discourse surrounding the accusations.

Board member Cheyenne Edgerly has emerged as a vocal supporter of Brumble, asserting that there is substantial evidence to suggest the allegations are unfounded and amount to slander. The board, cognizant of the gravity and complexity of the situation, has agreed to enlist legal counsel to aid in navigating the matter. The executive session, slated for December 18th, underscores the board's commitment to a thorough and discreet investigation.

Amidst this backdrop of controversy, the board is also contending with other challenges such as criticism for not discussing a staff survey and a recent lawsuit affecting its vacancy replacement process. These issues have added layers of complexity to the board's operations and have attracted community attention and concern.

As the special meeting at the district office commenced at 6 pm, stakeholders are poised for the outcomes, which promise to have significant implications for the governance of the school district and the community's trust in its leadership.

Honda recalls nearly 250K vehicles; bearing failures that cause engine stalls

Honda is recalling nearly 250,000 vehicles in the U.S. because bearings can fail, causing the engines to stall and increasing the risk of a crash.

The recall covers certain 2018 and 2019 Honda Pilot SUVs and Odyssey minivans and some 2017 and 2019 Ridgeline pickup trucks. Also affected are certain 2015 to 2020 Acura TLX cars and some 2016 to 2020 Acura MDX SUVs.

Honda says in documents posted Friday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that connecting rod bearings in the engine can wear and seize due to a manufacturing error, damaging the engines. The engines could run improperly or stall while being driven, increasing the risk of a fire, crash or injury.

The automaker says in documents that it has 1,450 warranty claims due to the problem but no reports of injuries.

Dealers will inspect and repair or replace the engines if needed. Owners will be notified by mail starting Jan. 2.
