Les Schwab Tires Expands Commercial Presence with Purchase of CMC Tire

Les Schwab Tires, one of the leading independent tire dealers in the United States, has acquired commercial tire business CMC Tire, the two companies announced today.

Founded in 2014 by tire professionals Michael Morast and Tommy Servine, CMC Tire brings particular expertise in the commercial, mining and construction fields and operates primarily in Utah, Nevada and Colorado. The company will continue to operate as an independent business using the CMC Tire brand, under Les Schwab Tires ownership.

“CMC Tire is a high-quality company with a fantastic track record and impressive growth over the last ten years,” said Les Schwab Tires CEO Mike Broberg.

“We look forward to continuing that growth and achieving new things as a result of the strength of our combined team.”

Broberg added the acquisition unites two like-minded companies that can complement and strengthen one another.

“We are two customer-centric brands coming together,” he said. “We share a culture of excellent service and a commitment to supporting and creating opportunities for our employees. This is an exciting opportunity to expand our commercial business alongside our continued retail growth.”

“After ten years of successful expansion, the time was right for new ownership”, said CMC Tire co-founder Mike Morast. “With more than 70 years of its own successful growth, Les Schwab Tires has the resources and knowledge to fuel the next stage of growth for CMC.”

Tommy Servine, CMC’s other co-founder, added: “CMC Tire has come a long way from our beginnings. A passion for better supporting trucking fleets with cost-effective tire programs designed to maximize roll time drove us to develop a special model that has been embraced by our customers. We’re glad to now be joining forces with a company that shares our values and will further energize our growth.”

CMC Tire has approximately 200 employees in several western states. No changes to staffing are planned at either company following the acquisition.

About Les Schwab:
Les Schwab Tire Centers is one of the leading independent tire dealers in the United States, with more than 8,000 employees and more than 541 locations across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Alaska, Minnesota, South Dakota and North Dakota. In every market, Les Schwab takes pride in doing the right thing − staying focused on providing superior value and building customers for life. The first Les Schwab stores were opened in small towns and rural communities with one guiding principle: provide our neighbors with high-quality products and unparalleled customer service. This single-minded focus on service continues today.

About CMC Tire:
Founded in 2014, CMC Tire was born of the vision to create a better, more customer-focused tire company with an unwavering commitment to excellence. The company proudly serves the local Utah, Nevada, and Colorado area. Its fleet of more than 70 service trucks covers a 300 mile radius around each store and ensures vehicles are back up and running as quickly as possible. Its retread plant in Hurricane, UT produces quality Continental retreaded tires, and its delivery system sees that casings are picked up, retreaded and returned in a timely fashion.
