Bend Police Department opens application process for Police Chief's Advisory Council
The Bend Police Department is currently soliciting applications from Bend community members interested in serving on the Police Chief’s Advisory Council.
The Police Chief’s Advisory Council was restarted in 2022 with the goal of building and keeping trust between the community and the police department.
The council consists of up to 20 community members with broad and diverse life experiences that reflect the Bend community. In addition, the Chief of Police will select members based on their integrity, commitment to the community, and their demonstrated ability to act as a communication conduit within their community networks.
The PCAC serves three critical missions:
To advise the Chief of Police and the Police Department on various issues from the community perspective.
To act as a communication conduit between community networks and the Police Department; and
To enhance trust between the community and the law enforcement agencies that serve them.
New members will serve two-year terms. Members will generally be limited to serve no more than a single two-year term on the PCAC, although the Chief of Police has discretion to reappoint members to additional terms as he sees fit.
Meetings will generally run for 90 minutes to two hours, one evening per month, and regular attendance is expected. Members are also expected to attend Community Academy and participate in at least one ride-along with an officer.
If you’re interested in serving your community on the Police Chief’s Advisory Council, please fill out an application by 5 p.m. on Monday, July 22. You can learn more about the PCAC on our website.
Apparent strong gust of wind pushes small plane onto its nose while landing at Sunriver Airport; no injuries.
On July 6th, at approximately 1:36 pm, the Sunriver Police Department responded to a reported airplane crash at the Sunriver Airport. A 1957 Piper PA-22-150 single engine aircraft crashed as it was landing on the #18 runway at the airport. The aircraft had landed on the runway and was traveling with all three wheels on the ground, when an apparent strong gust of wind pushed the aircraft’s left wing at an angle which caused it to make contact with the runway. The plane’s nose and propeller then also made contact with the runway. The sole occupant, the pilot, was able to exit the aircraft and is reportedly uninjured.
Sunriver Police notified the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The plane was removed from the runway at 2:30 pm and the runway was re-opened to air traffic.
The Sunriver Police Department would like to thank the Sunriver Airport and its employees for their assistance.

Unlocking the Secrets of Methylene Blue: A Gateway to Enhanced Health
Welcome to this week's edition of Monday's Health Corner! Today, we delve into the fascinating world of Methylene Blue—a synthetic dye and medication with a broad spectrum of applications in both medicine and biology. From treating serious conditions like methemoglobinemia to serving as an invaluable tool in scientific research, Methylene Blue has proven to be a versatile and essential compound. Join us as we explore its chemical properties, medical uses, mechanisms of action, and the exciting research surrounding its potential benefits.
In the quest for better health, humanity has turned to a plethora of remedies, some ancient, some cutting-edge. One substance that has recently risen to prominence is Methylene Blue. Although historically used as a dye and for various industrial applications, Methylene Blue is now capturing the attention of the medical community for its remarkable health benefits.
The Science Behind Methylene Blue
Methylene Blue is a synthetic compound that belongs to the phenothiazine family. It was first synthesized in 1876 by German chemist Heinrich Caro. Originally intended for use as a dye, its antimicrobial properties were soon discovered, leading to its use in treating malaria and other infections.
In recent years, researchers have been delving deeper into its biochemical properties, unveiling a spectrum of benefits that extend far beyond its initial applications.
Cognitive Enhancement: The Brain's Best Friend
One of the most compelling benefits of Methylene Blue is its potential for cognitive enhancement. Studies have shown that Methylene Blue can increase mitochondrial function and enhance cellular respiration. This means more energy is available to brain cells, improving memory retention, focus, and overall cognitive function.
Dr. Scott Brady from the University of Illinois College of Medicine remarks, "Methylene Blue has shown promise in improving cognitive function and could be a game-changer for conditions like Alzheimer's disease."
Antioxidant Powerhouse: Combatting Oxidative Stress
Oxidative stress is a key factor in aging and many chronic diseases. Methylene Blue acts as a potent antioxidant, neutralizing free radicals and reducing oxidative damage at the cellular level. This property not only contributes to enhanced mental clarity but also supports overall cellular health.
Mitochondrial Support: The Energy Boost You Need
Mitochondria are the powerhouses of our cells, responsible for generating energy. When mitochondrial function declines, so does our energy level and overall health. Methylene Blue supports mitochondrial function by facilitating electron transport and energy production. This can result in increased stamina, reduced fatigue, and better overall performance.
Mood Regulation: A New Frontier in Mental Health
Emerging evidence suggests that Methylene Blue may have antidepressant effects. By modulating monoamine oxidase activity and increasing levels of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, it holds potential as a novel treatment for depression and anxiety disorders.
Practical Applications: How to Incorporate Methylene Blue into Your Health Regimen
Given its wide-ranging benefits, it's no wonder that Methylene Blue is being hailed as a super compound. However, it's essential to use it correctly to maximize its advantages:
1. Dosage: Start with a low dose and gradually increase it under medical supervision.
2. Quality: Ensure you are using pharmaceutical-grade Methylene Blue to avoid contaminants.
3. Consultation: Always consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new supplement regimen.
In Summary: A Compound with Untapped Potential
Methylene Blue is more than just a dye; it's a powerhouse of potential health benefits waiting to be unlocked. From cognitive enhancement to mood regulation and antioxidant properties, this remarkable compound offers a new frontier in health optimization. Don't miss out on what could be one of the most significant breakthroughs in modern wellness.
